Rachel + Austin | Pittsburg, Kansas | Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church + Mirza Temple Wedding

I can remember vividly the day that Austin called me and told me he was going to propose to Rachel, and he wanted me to photograph it. Austin actually played football with my husband At Pitt State, Kansas in college and from the time they first met, they became close friends. Football brought them together but their bond and friendship was far more than that. Austin has a heart of gold and would truly give anyone the shirt off his back, you can spend less than an hour with him and learn that. In comes Rachel. Rachel is a small-town Kansas girl with truly a smile and heart that can light an entire room. Together, they are incredible. I was honored to secretly document Austin’s surprise proposal in Vail, Colorado- a place special to them both. I was so honored when they asked me to shoot their wedding as well.

Austin and Rachel’s day was a special one. From the minute I started shooting at The Beauty Bar where Rachel and her bridesmaids got ready,  I instantly learned how close-knit everyone was. Rachel and Austin are both super big family people and it was obvious that their families played important roles in their day. Their ceremony took place in one of the most gorgeous Catholic Church’s I have ever seen- Our Lady Of Lourdes. It had the prettiest stained glass windows and natural light. After the ceremony, everyone traveled to the Mirza Temple where the reception was held. During the reception, Rachel and Austin were set on me pulling them for sunset photos. We piled in my car and drove until we discovered a field for their bride + groom portraits. We found a perfect field with the prettiest sunset and we spent around 30 minutes together as I captured them loving on each other and taking a small moment alone before spending the rest of the evening celebrating with everyone they loved the most. They shared such a wonderful day and they are truly such a special couple. I think these photographs represent that and everything they are about.
